CT reveals the bilateral foramen ovale (red arrows) and the
foramen spinosum on the left (yellow arrow), which is absent on the right.
This lesion was extending upto foramen ovale and
foramen spinosum bilaterally.
The small foramen venosum (FV) is generally situated posteromedially to the foramen rotundum and anteromedially to the foramen ovale, the
foramen spinosum and the carotid canal, with the foramen ovale being the closest structure to the FV (Chaisuksunt et al, 2012).
They include the absence of the
foramen spinosum on the affected side and the enlargement of the proximal tympanic segment of the facial nerve canal adjacent to the cochleariform process.
