Drager system smoke tubes (with their marvelous original name of Stromungs-Prufrorchen) have a brownish-orange filling impregnated with fuming sulfuric acid. When humid air is pumped into a tube by means of a rubber bulb, sulfuric-acid aerosol emerges in the form of white smoke.
