They are already planning to relocate their Visitors Center to the
Garrison House and plan to highlight Fort Johnston's history through displays and an interactive media center.
The clarity and unfussiness of
Garrison House, and the sense of detachment, unusual for an architect's own house, should aid wider success.
The making of the film involves building a reproduction of the circa 1652-garrison house, the site of the Indian attack on Lancaster, beside its original locale in a field off Main Street-Route 70, using parts of an authentic garrison house from Harvard.
The garrison house site is now marked only by a large stump left from a tree planted in commemoration in the 1800s.
The film, he said, will include special effects from the battle - including the blaze and loud musket fire from a hill across Route 70 from the garrison house - all to be done at the soundstage.

LANCASTER - "Back in 1675, garrison houses were defense houses, usually made of thick logs, thick enough so bullets couldn't go through," said Wayne Hazen about the creation of a replica garrison house on Main Street in Lancaster, to be used on the set of his movie, "The Captive" and later as a museum.
"It (the house to be constructed) will be used as the actual garrison house in the film," said Hazen, "and will be built on its original site in the field near the Thayer Mansion (on Main Street.)"
Sunday, April 18, will be the groundbreaking ceremony for the garrison house project.
Hazen explained that in the 17th century, each town would have several garrison houses and different people would be assigned to different houses in which to hide in the event of a Native American attack resulting from King Philip's War.
