[41.] Briganti EM, Dowling J, Finlay M, et al The incidence of biopsy-proven
glomerulonephritis in Australia.
All patients were found to have crescentic
glomerulonephritis (GN).
The common clinical situations where biopsy is needed are Nephrotic Syndrome (NS), prolonged Acute Renal Failure, Rapidly Progressive Renal Failure (RPRF), non-nephrotic proteinuria, isolated microscopic haematuria, chronic
glomerulonephritis, unexplained Chronic Renal Failure (CRF) with normal kidney size and familial renal disease.

ANCA-associated crescentic
glomerulonephritis with mesangial IgA deposits.
The association of ANCA with
glomerulonephritis was first described in 1991; in this report, nine patients with hydralazine-induced
glomerulonephritis were found to have antibodies to myeloperoxidase and elastase (8).

indicated that corticosteroids were necessary to treat pulmonary hemorrhage with poststreptococcal
glomerulonephritis in an adult [20].
There have been some reported cases of
glomerulonephritis characterized by monoclonal IgA glomerular deposits [7-12].
