gyro topple
gyro topple
A phenomenon in which the gyro axes precess at random, giving erratic indications following the gyro's locking once the gimbals come against a mechanical stop. The gyro must be caged and re-erected in a straight and level flight for the gyro instrument to give correct indications. Also called
gyro tumble.
