height-finder radar
One that indicates the precise height of a target. It has a multilobe beam nodding aerial. Most modern radars are 3-D (three-dimensional) and have a height-finding function built into them.

height-finder radar. The sources said it was possible for these two systems to pass along limited targeting information to the Straight Flush fire-control radar without either pilot knowing that he was being targeted.
