A control device that automatically starts in the correct direction of motion or rotation to achieve a desired change, as in a remote-control tuning motor for a television receiver.
(engineering)
A device incorporated in a guided missile or the like to home it on a target.
(navigation)
A transmitter, receiver, or adapter used for homing aircraft or used by aircraft for homing purposes.
