A pump in which an accelerating jet entrains a second fluid to deliver it at elevated pressure.

jet pump

i. A form of a fluid pump in an aircraft fuel system that produces a low pressure by moving fuel at a high-velocity through a venturi. A jet pump helps remove vapors from fuel before it enters a fuel control unit. Some of the fuel from the main pump is returned to the tank through a venturi or a jet pump. The low pressure at the throat of the venturi pulls the vapor out of the chamber where vapor gets collected before returning fuel to the tank.
ii. A special venturi in a line carrying air from certain areas in aircraft that needs to be augmented with an additional flow of air in an environmental control system of the aircraft. A low pressure is created by the high-velocity compressor-bled air blowing through the venturi near the area from where air is to be drawn out. In this manner, foul air is drawn out from toilets and galleys of aircraft.
