It's a challenging climb to the top but once there you can have fun jumping over the craggy
limestone pavements, bird watching or sunbathing.
The crevices (grykes) of the
limestone pavements provide the right sheltered and shady conditions for relatively rare plants like purple saxifrage, yellow saxifrage, alpine meadow grass, hoary whitlow grass, lesser meadow-rue, wall lettuce, and baneberry.
A varied walk; forest and limestone country with a large section of
limestone pavement. The walk also visits Bryn Alyn with its wide-ranging views of the Clwydian Hills, the Alyn, Wheeler and Dee valleys.
His second entry ties in with the show's ecological twist this year, and is entitled Conserving the
Limestone Pavement.
The main street, called Placa or Stradun, is a wide backbone of polished
limestone pavement lined with stately 17th-century shops and housing.
Tomorrow's event, arranged in partnership with Troedio Clwyd Walks, is a five-mile walk to Bryn Alyn's
limestone pavement via Eryrys and Nercwys forest.
Halting the extraction of
