Mass and pericardium both revealed well differentiated
liposarcoma which was CDK 4 positive and ALK rearrangement was not seen.
Other possible diagnoses like lipoblastoma, lymphangioma,
liposarcoma or lymphangiolipoma should be considered.
Liposarcomas represent approximately 20% of all soft tissue sarcomas and are divided into various subtypes including atypical lipomatous tumors/well-differentiated
liposarcomas (ALT/WDLs), de-differentiated
liposarcoma, myxoid
liposarcoma, round cell
liposarcomas, and pleomorphic
liposarcomas.
At the same time, the histopathologic examination of the atrial mass showed a high-grade sarcoma consistent with dedifferentiated
liposarcoma. The tissue exhibited spindle cells with pleomorphism, multinucleated giant cells, and inflammatory cells.
Histological examination showed mixed well-differentiated and well-dedifferentiated
liposarcoma in the primary lesion (Figures 3(a), 3(c), and 3(e)).
