A new square tile is formed from elements from two matrices--one that holds the 16 bit fixed-point values which represent the
mantissas and the other smaller matrix that contains the exponents as 8bit integers for each tile.
Amongst the steps of floating-point multiplier, the more resource consuming part is the
mantissa multiplier.
2- The second part is "584" which is located after the Decimal Point, and it is called the Fractional Part or
Mantissa.
The steps got more complicated when small numbers were involved, too, such as finding [square root of 0.52], since the logarithm of 0.52 was generally first written with a characteristic of "bar 1" to avoid dealing with some aspects of negative numbers, while leaving the
mantissa positive:
In IEEE754 a real number X has to be represented in 32 bits with a sign bit (s) followed by eight exponent bit (E) and twenty three
mantissa (m) bits, and is given by,
The CUCA also signed a '2 plus 2' academic collaborative partnership with
Mantissa College, Malaysia, whereby students with majors in marketing can complete their bachelor degree at
Mantissa, after completion of two years at the CUCA.
ii) Multiply the
Mantissa of the two numbers, M = [A.sub.m] * [B.sub.m]
The display of floating-point numbers comprises two parts the significant (or
mantissa) M and the exponent E.
In our case we used 50 decimal digits for the
mantissa, which is in accordance with the number of decimal digits employed in the computation of Gauss-Turan nodes.
