asphaltic mastic, mastic asphalt

A viscous mixture of asphalt and a filler material such as fine sand or asbestos; hardens when exposed to air; used as an adhesive, as a sealant at joints, and in waterproofing.

Benninghoven stated: "In the future, it will no longer be permitted to transport mastic asphalt with conventional mastic asphalt mixers inside towns and on night-time construction sites.
