melanocytoma (see below).
Neurocutaneous Melanosis and
Melanocytoma Associated with Dandy-Walker Malformation.
The histopathological examination of growth revealed fibrous dysplasia in three buffaloes and
melanocytoma in two cases.
A general report of neoplasia in camels [9-12], cutaneous
melanocytoma [8] and a basal cell carcinoma in a dromedary camel [2] have been previously published [11].Skin neoplasms have been reported as solitary cases in camels.
Possible diagnoses of a suspicious iris lesion other than iris melanoma include iris nevus, iris pigment epithelial cyst, iris stromal cyst, metastatic tumor of the iris,
melanocytoma, iris atrophy and Cogan-Reese syndrome.
For the period from 2013 to 2016 in the veterinary clinics, JSC "Talap" and PE "Vinnikova," 643 dogs with suspected melanoma and
melanocytoma were examined.
Although the dark pigmentation and nests and islands of polygonal cells prompted the differential diagnosis of a
melanocytoma, the immunohistochemistry results lead to the final diagnosis of a moderately pigmented basal cell tumor.
Diffuse iris pigment dispersion and the dark pigmentation let us to be thought it could be a benign tumor, a necrotic
melanocytoma or an adenoma of the pigment epithelium.
Some areas covered include acquired melanocytic nevi, congenital nevi and tumefactions, blue nevi and variants, combined nevi, pigmented epithelioid
melanocytoma, tumorigenic melanomas of WHO classification categories, neutrotropic melanoma, metastastic melanoma, and nonmelanocytic melanoma simulants.
