A rectifier consisting of one or more disks of metal under pressure-contact with semiconductor coatings or layers, such as a copper oxide, selenium, or silicon rectifier. Also known as contact rectifier; dry-disk rectifier; dry-plate rectifier; metallic-disk rectifier; semiconductor rectifier.
