[′mir·ər ′tran·zit ‚sər·kəl] (engineering)
A development of the conventional transit circle in which light from a star is reflected into fixed horizontal telescopes pointing due north and south by a plane mirror that is mounted on a horizontal east-west axis and attached to a large circle with accurately calibrated markings to determine the mirror's position.
