multiple-disc brake
A typical multiple disc-brake assembly. It consists of alternate stator and rotor discs made of bronze and steel, respectively. Modern systems use advanced carbon alloys.
A type of aircraft brakes in which a series of discs, keyed to a wheel, mesh or rotate between a series of stationary discs keyed to an axle. Once hydraulic pressure is applied, the discs are squeezed and the brakes applied.
