nitroparaffin
[¦nī·trō′par·ə·fən] (organic chemistry)
Any organic compound in which one or more hydrogens of an alkane are replaced by a nitro, or NO2-, group, such as nitromethane, CH3NO2, or nitroethane, C2H5NO2. Also known as nitroalkane.
