open-center selector valve

A type of hydraulic selector valve used in an open-center hydraulic system that allows hydraulic fluid to flow from the pump to the reservoir when the selector valve is placed in neutral (i.e., when none of the actuating cylinders are receiving fluid under pressure). See open-center hydraulic system.
