It was originating off of a digital artery immediately after its takeoff from the deep
palmar arch. The tourniquet was deflated and the aneurysm filled with blood.
This space was supplied by the first common palmar metacarpal artery from the deep
palmar arch. [sup][5] A previous study showed that the common palmar digital artery to the second web space did not arise from the superficial arch; instead, it originated from a common trunk that supplied the third web space.
We did not observe any communication between the PMA and the ulnar artery in the forearm except in the formation of the radio-medio-ulnar variety of the superficial
palmar arch in the hand.
It coursed superficially under the skin and terminated in the superficial
palmar arch [15].
[1] It runs superficial to flexor muscles of front of forearm & continues as superficial
palmar arch in hand.
For this reason, all patients who undergo this procedure should be tested to ensure a patent
palmar arch and ulnar artery.
It may be due to abnormal continuity of the peripheral arterial system of the digits with the
palmar arch or occlusive artery disease in the forearm.
The macrovascular disease is often observed as
palmar arch and ulnar artery disease.
Also missing from the foreflipper is a deep
palmar arch. In addition, a variation was found in the blood supply to the abaxial palmar digital artery IV and the axial palmar digital artery V of one seal.
Also reported that the palmar pattern ended as the 1st, 2nd, 1st and common digital arteries [65%] or joined the superficial
palmar arch. The occurrence of the PMA with unusual division of the median nerve has been reported by several authors (Chalmers, 1978; Toranto, 1988).
