albicans in our study were isolated from the chronic
paronychia cases.
Doctors commonly prescribe antifungal agents for chronic

* POPULATION STUDIED A total of 45 patients, 22 to 69 years of age, presenting to a dermatology clinic in Italy with chronic
paronychia were enrolled.
This treatment was associated with 100% clearance of the
paronychia. However, the study was not blinded, which was an important weakness, Dr.
Clinical manifestations vary and may mimic onychomycosis, chronic
paronychia, chronic osteomyelitis, eczema, glomus tumor, subungual exostosis, verruca vulgaris, pyogenic granuloma, fibroma, keratoacanthoma, melanoma, or metastases.[4,11,12] With involvement of the nail matrix, the nail may become dystrophic and onycholysis may occur.
Other less frequent changes were Beau's lines (14%), splinter hemorrhages (12%) [Figure 4], longitudinal ridging (12%),
paronychia (10%), longitudinal melanonychia (4%) [Figure 5], perilunular erythema/red lunule (5%) [Figure 6] and twenty nail dystrophy (3%).
Of 44 patients with chronic
paronychia, 41 (93%) had a strong history of contact with irritants.

paronychia in children.
Manicure with previously used and improperly disinfected tools can lead to infections like
paronychia, dermatophytosis etc., as the same instruments might have been used on infected patients.
RESULTS: Pyodermas clinical types (7) incidence--Of the 100 cases studied Impetigo 30% was the most commonest clinical type followed by Folliculitis (22%), Furunculosis (10%), Ecthyma (6%), Infected scabies (5%), Sycosisbarbae (5%), Erythrasma (5%), Cellulitis (3%), Infectious Eczematous Dermatitis (3%),
Paronychia (3%), Carbuncle (2%), Periportis (2%), Infected wound (2%), Job's syndrome (1%), Pitted keratolysis (1%).
(Table 5) Among the fungal infections, candidiasis was the most common with 65(43.33%) patients affected by it, of which oral candidiasis accounted for 50(33.33%) patients followed by genital(vulvovaginal and balanoposthitis)affecting 14 patients (9.33%) and 1 patient of candidal
