Since the master has to poll data in a
piconet, in the first time slot, a packet is requested and then the client keeps the channel for a maximum of five time slots to send the multislot ACL packet.
For comparisons two networks were used: 1) the Iowa City Airport
Piconet (e.g., Krajewski et al., 2003) and its expansion which includes 25 sites spaced on approximately a 5 km (3.1 mi) grid with dual tipping bucket platforms (Figure 1); and 2) the Iowa State University Ag-Climate network.
A network of Bluetooth devices is called a
piconet. Each
piconet can support a maximum of eight devices.
The tool uses a nonintrusive approach to capture Bluetooth data transmitted in a
piconet. The unit is in a PC card form factor and features 32 MB of dedicated recording memory.
The kit also allows
Piconet applications to be tested, this involves eight different Bluetooth devices communicating with each other and swapping information.
PICONET -- An impromptu wireless LAN created when Bluetooth devices connect to one another.
Each
piconet uses a distinct time domain sequence (four
piconets).
