piezoelectric effect

[pē¦ā·zō·ə′lek·trik i′fekt]
(solid-state physics)
The generation of electric polarization in certain dielectric crystals as a result of the application of mechanical stress.
The reverse effect, in which application of a voltage between certain faces of the crystal produces a mechanical distortion of the material.

The proposed characterization gives an idea about the parameters that directly influence the dielectric and mechanical proprieties in porous EVA copolymer films for reaching pseudo piezoelectric effects. Our study shows that the dielectric parameters improve with increasing the porosity.
For a long time, the piezoelectric effect was only known for crystals.
Keywords: piezoelectric effect, electricity, piezoelectric power, composite, generator.
During acceleration the seismic mass exerts a force on the piezoelectric material beam resulting in the generation of a charge due to the piezoelectric effect. Piezoelectric accelerometers have many desirable features, such as extremely low power consumption, high sensitivity, inherent temperature stability, compatibility with CMOS manufacturing process [31-33], high Q in the range of 80 to 100, low damping, high output impedance, and wide operating temperature range (up to 300[degrees]C) [31, 34, 35].
To account for the piezoelectric effect, flexoelectric effect, and nonlocal mechanical and electrical effects, an electric Gibbs energy density Gb including the energy of elasticity, piezoelectricity, flexoelectricity, and couple stress was proposed by
Thus, this mechanically induced electrical energy has great regulatory effect on the cellular and molecular levels." Which means that NASA's new bandage adds to the piezoelectric effect already produced in human cells, thus making wounds heal faster.
Elastic-viscoplastic material with internal state variable and piezoelectric effect, also called electro-elasto-viscoplastic material with internal state variable is given by
Sensors using the piezoelectric effect can measure changes in pressure, sound, acceleration, temperature, strain, or force by converting them to an electrical charge.
This is the first time anyone has shown the piezoelectric effect in atomically thin films, although the property has been predicted.
A reverse piezoelectric effect is used to create a motion in a piezo stack, with many layers of a piezoelectric material laminated with electrodes.
