A chart of a major ocean area published, for the benefit of mariners, by the U.S. Naval Oceanographic Office in cooperation with the U.S. Weather Bureau; these charts contain information required in planning safe routes, including ocean currents, ice at sea, wind roses, storm tracks, isotherms, magnetic variation, and recommended routes or steamer tracks.
