According to a RCB official, there would be a complete ban on
polythene bags in markets across the cantonment boards while teams would make surprise visits from next week to inspect implementation on the ban.

He was hopeful that the Government will implement the decision in letter and spirit, and appealed to the manufacturers of
polythene bags to kindly obey the laws and cooperate with Sindh Government.
'Police are always alert against unscrupulous traders who smuggle
polythene bags into the country and other contrabands, we thank residents who inform the Police about people who traffic and sell these products which destroy the environment,' said Chief Inspector of Police (CIP) Alexis Rugigana, the Police spokesperson for the Northern region attributing continued presence of plastic bags especially in the districts bordering neighboring countries is facilitated by smuggling.
'It is a call of time to switch to alternative resources and to do away with the habit of using plastic and
polythene bags,' she said, admiring the incumbent government and the climate change ministry to take a timely and constructive step for the safety of human beings.
She said use and selling of
polythene bags will be banned from August 14 in Islamabad.
Furthermore, wholesalers and retailers have also been shut down in District Swat, Kohat, Charsadda and Malakand whereas District Khyber has been declared
polythene free.
