Request an Outlook Briefing when your
proposed departure time is six hours or more from the time of the briefing.
An outlook briefing is used for a weather outlook usually greater than six hours from
proposed departure time. This helps get an idea of what the actual weather will be and gives you an opportunity to consider the go/no-go decision.
When your
proposed departure time is within two hours, current conditions will be given including a summary of current weather, PIREPs and weather radar information.
Most [ARTCCs] have this parameter set so as to delete these flight plans a minimum of 1 hour after the
proposed departure time. To ensure that a flight plan remains active, pilots whose actual departure time will be delayed 1 hour or more beyond their filed departure time, are requested to notify ATC of their departure time." To ensure your flight plan is waiting when you need it:
In Item 13, put the ICAO designation for your departure airport and
proposed departure time in UTC.
