Spectrum Allocations: The International Telecommunication Union (ITU) is the international organization within the United Nations that develops international regulations "to ensure rational, equitable, efficient and economical use of the
radio-frequency spectrum." The ITU establishes global allocations of electromagnetic spectrum, or radio frequencies, that are intended to support specific types of services: mobile and fixed communications, maritime communications, radar and more, and minimizes harmful radio frequency interference.
The Center reviews the equipment application to ensure it is compliant with spectrum management policy, allocations, regulations and technical standards, and determines whether the
radio-frequency spectrum it requires is available.
