rain ice

The most dangerous type of airframe icing, which is caused by supercooled raindrops. They take sufficiently long to freeze for the backflow to be extensive. Rain ice is similar in appearance to glazed ice. See glazed ice.

Thankfully, I never needed to employ the Rain Ice Snow mode or the All Surface Progress Control for more tricky conditions - but they're there if you need them.
The XF also features Jaguar's Drive Control system which allows you to choose between different driving modes called Standard, Eco, Dynamic or Rain Ice Snow mode.
I think it's not supposed to rain ice. But it does, and when you're holed up trying to avoid a broken noggin, you can have strange thoughts.
