Taxiways linked to runways at an angle that permits aircraft to exit the runway at high speeds (40–58 mph or 65–93 km/h). The intersection angle of such taxiways should not be less than 25° nor greater than 45°. Ideally, it should be 30°. The recommended design radius of curve is at least 605 yards (550 m) for runways with code 3 or 4 and 302 yards (275 m) for runways with code 1 or 2. These taxiways should include a straight distance after the turnoff curve sufficient for an existing aircraft to come to a full stop clear of any intersecting runway.

Another entry says: 'Birmingham airport has an acute need for a rapid-exit taxiway for aircraft landing on Runway 15, and has had for several years.
TWO newly built rapid-exit taxiways (RET) that would allow a speedy exit of landing airplanes on runway 06-24 will be opened for operation at 3 p.m.
Within the first two years, he said the consortium would begin work on adding Naia's taxiways and rapid-exit taxiways, used by aircraft to travel between the terminals and the main runways.
Immediately upon takeover, GMR Megawide will enhance NAIA's airside infrastructure, which includes building full-length parallel taxiways for both runways, additional Rapid-Exit Taxiways (RETs) for the primary runway, extension of the secondary runway plus provision of the maximum number of aircraft stands.
Busy airports typically construct high-speed or rapid-exit taxiways in order to allow aircraft to leave the runway at higher speeds.
There will also be a cargo complex capable of handling 100,000 tonnes a year, four rapid-exit taxiways, apron parking sufficient for the contact stands, underground cable network, parking for ground handling vehicles, secure cargo areas and major airport road infrastructure.
And high-speed or rapid-exit taxiways allow aircraft to leave the runway at higher speeds and vacate the runway for other aircraft.
In its proposal, pegged at $3 billion, GMR-Megawide plans to construct full-length parallel taxiways for both of the Naia's runways, construct an additional rapid-exit taxiways for the primary runway extend the secondary runway, and provide the maximum number of aircraft stands.
He said addressing airside issues such as the lack of taxiways, rapid-exit taxiways and aircraft parking stalls would help increase runway capacity at Naia from 40 movements per hour to 60 movements.
