A modification of equipment to incorporate changes made in later production of similar equipment; it may be done in the factory or field. Derived from retroactive refit.

To make an improvement to an existing building, or to adapt it to a new use. Also, the replacement, upgrade, or improvement of a piece of equipment or structure in an existing building or facility.
