ring gage

A cylindrical ring of steel whose inside diameter is finished to gage tolerance and is used for checking the external diameter of a cylindrical object.

Ring gauges are pretty much the industry standard for checking doors.
It is intended to replace the need for ring gauges and calipers, and is said to be ideal for part sampling environments and mold proving.
