THROUGHOUT 2018, there were exciting moments at the
salerooms culminating in the Selections and Collections auction in Cardiff where Chinese ceramics stole the show in dramatic style, writes Ben Rogers Jones of David Rogers Jones.
"It has been estimated at PS20,000-PS30,000 and we are amassing a suitable sale to be held here at the Liverpool
saleroom so that we can sell it some time in February."

But are online auction houses poised to replace the physical
saleroom? Or will the traditional auction house continue to prosper, since so many integral aspects of the
saleroom experience cannot be replicated online?

The nine pencil drawings by Welsh engineer Hugh Iorys Hughes were estimated to fetch 40,000 to 80,000 US dollars (pounds 26,000 to pounds 51,000) at Bonhams' New York
saleroom on Tuesday.
The bowl was sold by Bainbridge's auction house in Ruislip, Essex - the same
saleroom that famously sold a Chinese vase in 2010 for 59million pounds.
After a woman bought them at the sale in Portsmouth, Hampshire, she took them to the Stride and Son
saleroom in Chichester, Sussex.
