sine galvanometer

[′sīn ‚gal·və′näm·əd·ər]
(engineering)
A type of magnetometer in which a small magnet is suspended in the center of a pair of Helmholtz coils, and the rest position of the magnet is measured when various known currents are sent through the coils.
