Flies were trapped with a
sound trap modelled after Walker's (1989) slit trap design.
This short length was in the measurement room because a 5' section was required to exit the measurement room to join into the outlet
sound trap. Because of space limitations outside the measurement room, the location of the
sound trap was fixed.
Spring and fall catches, 200-2003, from the Long Island Sound Trawl Survey (LISTS) versus trawl catches in the Narrows (A) showed similar percentages by area as summer and fall 2003 catches from the Western Long Island
Sound Trap Survey (B).
Sound Trap laminated steel, made by MSC Engineered Materials, is comprised of two steel skins, constrained over a layer of viscoelastic material that absorbs vibrational energy and reduces noise in end products.
Other features include a 75 [ohms] IF amplifier load; a 33 V tuning voltage output; programmable charge-pump currents; in-lock detection; programmable reference divider ratios; outputs for band-switching and frequency-modulated
sound trap switching; a five level, on chip A/D converter for digital automatic frequency control; and programming/interrogation via industry-standard control buses.
Sound traps control the airborne noise in a duct while allowing the air itself to continue onward.
Since duct rumble is actually a low-frequency duct vibration issue,
sound traps and in-duct active attenuation (sound canceling) are not useful in eliminating the ductwork vibration that causes duct rumble.
The motorised rolling doors come with tracks,
sound traps and acoustic seals.
