spectrum variables

(α2 CVn stars) Peculiar main-sequence Ap stars whose spectra have anomalously strong lines of metals and rare earths (Sr, Eu, Mn, Si, Cr) that vary in intensity by about 0.1 magnitudes over periods of about 1–25 days. These variations are related to changes in the stars' magnetic fields. The brighter component of the binary star Cor Caroli2 CVn) is typical.
