Spermicides.
Spermicides are nonprescription, nonhormonal chemical products containing the active ingredient nonoxynol-9 (N-9).
spermicides (1,1%).
Hence this study showed that the protein isolated from the roots of Achyranthes aspera possess spermicidal activity in vitro and can act as a
spermicide similar to that of nonoxynold 9.
The study was limited by several factors, including the use of self-reports, a lack of data from all parts of the United States, and a lack of data on several additional contraceptive methods such as
spermicides, emergency contraception, and lactational amenorrhea.
The warning label would be required on all stand-alone
spermicides including gels, foams, films, or inserts that contain N9.
It has been associated with chronic yeast infections and the use of chemical irritants such as soaps,
spermicides and lubricants.
Uncontrolled diabetes, and the use of antibiotics and the contraceptive sponge, diaphragm and
spermicides are associated with more frequent yeast infections.
Birth control continued to be a challenge as she tried everything from suppositories to
spermicides.
At their initial study visit, the women underwent STD testing, received an intervention that promoted consistent and correct use of condoms and
spermicides, completed a behavioral interview, and learned how to use a diary to record their sexual activity and use of barrier methods.
