Soft coral spiculite (the massive skeletons formed by sclerites cemented in aragonite) appears in fossil Quaternary coral reefs at various locations in the Indo-Pacific (Johnson and Risk, 1987; Accordi et al., 1989; Cabioch et al., 1995).
