state sequencer
state sequencer
An electronic circuit that changes the state (mode, current status, etc.) of the system. In a microprocessor, a state sequencer switches the chip's mode of operation from fetch to decode to execute and back again. In a custom ASIC chip, the state sequencer performs the logic steps required by the application by changing the operation of the circuits based on the input.Copyright © 1981-2025 by The Computer Language Company Inc.
