Superciliary Ridge

a uniformly thickened portion of the frontal bone of the skull, forming the upper boundary of the orbits. The superciliary ridge is a result of the merging of the superciliary arches with the supraorbital triangles (the thickenings of the zygomatic processes of the frontal bone) and with the supranasal prominence. The superciliary ridge is characteristic of anthropoid apes and fossil man up to and including Neanderthal man, that is, the archanthropines and the paleoanthropines.
