synchronous vibrator
[′siŋ·krə·nəs ′vī‚brād·ər] (electromagnetism)
An electromagnetic vibrator that simultaneously converts a low direct voltage to a low alternating voltage and rectifies a high alternating voltage obtained from a power transformer to which the low alternating voltage is applied; in power packs, it eliminates the need for a rectifier tube.
