tab key

A keyboard key that moves the cursor to the next tab stop or field. See tab and tab stop.

For people who cannot use a mouse, Web browsers have a feature that selects the clickable items on the page by pressing the TAB key. Some designers turn this feature off because they dislike the appearance of the focus box, but doing so can make it impossible for these users to navigate the site.
Use standard keyboard characters, such as asterisks instead of bullets, to be on the safe side, and use the space bar instead of the tab key. Also avoid vertical lines, underlining and graphics, and especially avoid using your picture.
By preventing people from choosing locked cells, you ensure that they can use the Tab key to quickly jump to the next input cell.
When filling out a form, the Tab key moves you forward field to field; a Shift-Tab moves you backward.
To select from that list, highlight your choice and press the Tab key. Once you get used to this intelligent function, you'll wonder how you survived without it.
"I can easily navigate through the form fields using the tab key to add, delete, or change small amounts of patient data." Larger entries, such as office notes and patient medications, can be pasted into the form.
