tapeless storage

Using disks as storage. Tapeless storage refers to devices, such as camcorders, which traditionally used magnetic tape, but later became available with optical, hard drive or solid state storage instead. See camcorder and XDCAM.

Tapeless Add-On
In 2004, this Focus Enhancements module let professional JVC DV camcorders record directly onto a hard disk, thus eliminating the tape-to-computer disk conversion step. DTE stands for "direct-to-edit."
