Liquid-injected machines have a higher discharge mass flow rate of vapor so the quantity of heat recoverable is often greater than
thermosiphon or external oil cooled packages.
As discussed above, the
thermosiphon operates on a heat pipe principles.
The capacity of relief valves for the refrigerant-side of a
thermosiphon oil cooler should be determined based on the maximum rate of refrigerant vapor generated within the oil cooler driven by heat input from likely scenarios that could contribute to overpressure conditions on the refrigerant-side of the oil cooler.
(6) The values of the flow rate at other time periods are estimated based on the photothermal performance of the gravitative loop
thermosiphon.
Water circulation may occur in two ways: forced by pump or by natural convection
thermosiphon, where the water is at the collector to be heated by solar radiation (Kalogirou, 2014).
More recently a 12 L deuterium CNS was installed at FRM-II Germany and OPAL was commissioned with a 20 L deuterium CNS; both designs use a
thermosiphon for moderator cooling.
[5] drew a conclusion without consideration of frictional pressure that C[O.sub.2]
thermosiphon could produce similar amount of electric power with the same quantity of heat extraction compared to water but with simpler surface equipment.
The heat flux rate would be such that the liquid is evaporated over the length of the tube, similar to the case for a
thermosiphon flooded evaporator, as highlighted in Figure i.
The circulation in the buffer fluid circuit occurs according to the
Thermosiphon principle, or via forced circulation e.g.
Thermosiphon systems are another type of passive design, and use the effect of hot water rising above cold to circulate the hot water to a storage tank, which can even be located inside a house so it loses less heat to the ambient temperature.
