Manufacturers are capitalizing on consumer health concerns by adding germ- and bacteria-killing ultraviolet lamps to their air purifiers.
The invisible ink can only be seen under an ultraviolet lamp, where it fluoresces to a bright red color.
Once the droplet assumes the desired form, a few minutes under an ultraviolet lamp polymerizes the liquid into a hard lens.
Features include a hologram that does not refract light if replicated and an ultraviolet ink design that, while invisible to the human eye, can be checked with an ultraviolet lamp. If the certificate is photocopied a heat-sensitive spot vanishes and the word ``Copy'' appears.
These samples were divided into four quadrants, placed in an aluminum-lined boxed with an ultraviolet lamp, and each quadrant was given increased exposure (0 hrs., 12.8 hrs., 25.5 hrs., and 38.3 hrs.) to ultraviolet light.
The GloGerm basic germ detective kit contains a bottle of fluorescing oil, a bottle of fluorescent powder, and a safe, low-power ultraviolet lamp. The oil and powder contain a plastic fluorescing compound that is easily seen under ultraviolet light.
The self-contained unit will ozonate more than 6000 gallons of water daily using oxygen and ozone generators, and an inline ultraviolet lamp. A protein-derived enzyme is added to the water during processing, which rapidly decomposes ozonated water into water and oxygen, thus reducing numbers of microbes without the use of preservatives.
The [Beta]-glucuronidase hydrolyzes 4-methylumbelliferone glucuronide to the fluorescent umbelliferone, which is easily observed with a ultraviolet lamp. This test has also been widely verified.
Other new and expanded areas include space air diffusion data, equipment heat load data, combustion turbines, and ultraviolet lamp systems.
