virtualization-aware network

Also found in: Dictionary.

virtualization-aware network

A network that recognizes virtual machine (VM) instances. Embodied in VM-aware network switches, when a virtual machine instance is migrated to a different server, a virtualization-aware network is able to transfer the unique configuration of that VM along with it, saving the network administrator from manually making changes. The configuration settings include quality of service (QoS), security policies and access control lists (ACLs). See virtual machine.
