x coordinate

(mathematics)
One of the coordinates of a point in a two- or three-dimensional cartesian coordinate system, equal to the directed distance of a point from the y axis in a two-dimensional system, or from the plane of the y and z axes in a three-dimensional system, measured along a line parallel to the x axis.
