Young Turks

 

participants in the bourgeois revolutionary movement in Turkey (the Ottoman Empire) in the late 19th century through the early 20th. Their goal was to replace the autocratic rule of the sultan with a constitutional system. In a narrower sense, the Young Turks were the members of the organization known as the Committee of Union and Progress, which led the Young Turk revolution of 1908.

Young Turk was the second leg of a double for his owners and trainer Joseph O'Brien, a combination on the mark with Choungaya (Mark Walsh) in the opening maiden hurdle.
The second is a memoir and critical evaluation of events during 1900 and 1901 by middle-aged Young Turk officer Islail Hakki.
But, as stated above, despite these shortcomings, the book is very good and should be part of investigating state-society relations during the Young Turk period.
