AppleScript

An English-like command language for the Mac introduced with System 7 Pro and supported in Mac OS X and macOS, even though they have their own Unix commands. Like the command lines and batch files in DOS/Windows, AppleScript has been used to invoke numerous functions and automate repetitive tasks. A variety of pre-written scripts are available, and Apple's Script Editor is used to write a custom script.
