Brodovitch, Alexey

(1898–1971) art director, teacher; born in Ogolitchi, Russia. After emigrating from Paris in 1930, he became art director of Harper's Bazaar (1934–58) and ran design labs (1934–58), training fashion photographers like Avedon to produce striking pictures.
