Building inspector

A member of the building department who inspects construction to determine conformity to the building code and the approved plans, or one who inspects occupied buildings for violations of the building code.

A member of a building department, usually of a municipality, who inspects construction to determine if it conforms to both the requirement of the building code and the approved plans; one who inspects occupied buildings for violations of the building code.
