InterBase
A relational DBMS (RDBMS) from Embarcadero Technologies, Inc. that runs under Windows, Mac, iOS, Linux and Solaris. Using a small amount of memory, the SQL-based InterBase can be embedded within and remain with the application as it is ported to different platforms. InterBase is noted for its speed and use of multi-generational architecture, which creates new versions of the data when updated. A lite version (IBLite) is used with iOS apps.
InterBase was originally developed by Groton Database Systems and sold to Ashton-Tate in the late 1980s. Ashton-Tate was acquired by Borland in 1991, and InterBase was acquired by Embarcadero in 2008.Copyright © 1981-2025 by The Computer Language Company Inc. All Rights reserved.
